The Pima County Sheriff’s Department released two disturbing ransom notes connected to Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance, one stating she had died.
The authorities shared the information Friday on X and included previously unreleased details that shed new light on the horrifying disappearance of Savannah Guthrie’s mother.
The first note began with a demand for $4 million in bitcoin, and a stern warning that reads, “do not play games, law enforcement will not be able to help you.”
A second note shared by the Sheriff’s office was written with an entirely different tone.
“We never intended to hurt her, that was not our intention. She perished shortly after she was taken.”

The first one was dated Feb. 2 and was framed as a ransom demand.
It was followed by the note Feb. 6, claiming death.

“She had a white smart watch on the floor of the foot of her bed and the white flood light in backyard was destroyed,” the first note reads.
“She is safe but scared. She will be held for ransom and once payment is received she will be released unharmed.”
The Guthrie family was told that Nancy would be held for a “maximum of 7 days,” and demanded the $4 million in bitcoin be sent by Feb. 5.
“Once payment is received to the bitcoin address below she will be released within 12 hours of deposit to a safe drop off location back in Tucson.”
That was followed by a direct threat, and the Guthrie family was put on notice that there would be “no negotiation”
“If payment is not received by the last deadline on Monday the 9th at 5PM, she will be killed.”
“Your mother is aware of this and her life is in your hands.”
The second note shared by the Pima County Sheriff’s Office served as a notice to the Guthrie family that the situation had taken a tragic turn.
“We did not fully grasp the seriousness of her physical condition,” the second note said.
“We believe it was heart related.”
The ransom note concluded with the words, “Nothing you could have done could have changed the outcome.”
“We want your family to know this and hope you all can find peace. We are truly sorry.”

On the six-month anniversary of Nancy’s disappearance, Savannah released a video pleading with the abductor to “do the right thing” and provide information that would bring her family closure.
