Patricia Arquette has hit out at a transgender woman who claimed that lesbians who refuse to date trans women are transphobic.
The progressive actress, whose late sister Alexis was trans, was responding to a video by TikTok creator Dr Michael Ann who wrote a song about the issue.
'If you're cis and you won't date trans folks, you're a transphobe,' the creator crooned.
'If that made you mad maybe it's your prejudices you need to probe. No matter the reasons you've got you're reducing us to when we disrobe.
'I know you think you've got good reasons and maybe you do. Trauma's real, it's hard to heal, I'd never say that isn't true.
'But transphobia is transphobia and you won't get a pass a pass when we're through,' Ann continued in a line taken as a threat by some feminist and lesbian activists.
'We're human beings, not sex organs, cis lesbians, I'm talking to you,' Ann concluded.
But Arquette, 56, was left incensed by the video and took to Instagram to comment after it was re-shared by another account.
'No one has the right to pressure, force, coerce or demand anyone to date anyone,' she fumed. 'End of story. It is not discrimination.'

Arquette is an advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and previously called for an end to the persecution of trans people during an Emmys acceptance speech for her role in Hulu's 'The Act'.
She paid tribute to her late sister Alexis, who documented her transition in the 2007 documentary, Alexis Arquette: She's My Brother.
'I’m in mourning every day of my life, Alexis, and I will be the rest of my life for you, until we change the world so that trans people are not persecuted,' Arquette said.
'And give them jobs. They’re human beings. Let’s give them jobs. Let’s get rid of this bias that we have everywhere.
Last year Arquette referred to Alexis as her 'guardian angel' in an interview with US Magazine as she paid tribute to her late sibling as part of a series in celebration of Pride month.
'I think we've historically had so much trauma and suppression and strange laws and treatment of this whole community that it's a beautiful thing to come together as a community and say, you know, we're proud and we're living beautiful lives and we have all these dreams and our dreams are coming true,' Arquette said.
'All of the allies can be like, "Yes, we support you. We love you".'
