Sick of navigating dating apps? One woman decided to take matters into her own hands - literally - by making a sign advertising her single status.

Shilo Read was tired of using dating apps to meet eligible bachelors, deciding instead to put herself out there while attending a rugby match.

Constructing a simple yet effective sign advertising her relationship status, Shilo took it to the game and was soon inundated with date requests.

The direct sign just read 'single' in big, bold letters with an arrow that pointed down at her when she held it above her head, along with her Instagram handle.

Shilo posted the masterful move to TikTok showing a picture of her sign as she held it aloft in the stands before a screen recording showed her scrolling through the overwhelming amount of follow requests and direct messages asking her out.

'This is your sign to bring a single sign to sporting events,' she joked.

Hilariously, Shilo said her mom was the mastermind behind the idea.

'She made the suggestion and I thought it would be funny!' the West Australian based creator told the DailyMail.com.

Shilo explained that 'dating apps suck,' so figured she would see who was brave enough to actually ask her out.

'Seems Instagram was an easier way than walking up to me,' she explained.

Shilo said she had 'a lot' of people reaching out and asking her on dates.

'Surprisingly,' she quipped. 'Lots from overseas who were watching on the TV.'

She added she has a few dates coming up in a few weeks.

After sharing her dating trick on TikTok, Shilo's video was filled with women wanting to try the same method.

'Never going back on apps anymore,' one user declared.

'Have the girls over, cast to the TV, and let the shortlist process begin,' joked another.

Another spotted a familiar face, writing: 'HAHAH NOT ME SEEING MY EX BOYFRIEND IN YOUR DMS.'

Unique approaches to dating often work wonders. Back in 2023, a Minnesota woman working in marketing came up with a bizarre and festive way to let people know she was single and ready to mingle.

Julia McClellan decided add a very unusual message to her Christmas cards.

'Are you seeing this on my friend's fridge? Are you a single male between 25-35? I'm Julia and this is my pup,' the Christmas card read - before revealing her phone number.

Julia told DailyMail.com at the time that she wanted to have a boyfriend in the new year after years of searching with no luck.

She revealed that in the past year or so, she had been on almost 30 dates - and fewer than five of them have resulted in a second date.

After her 'truly terrible' year on the dating apps, Julia came up with her holiday card dating advertisement and sent out 15 of them to her friends and family to put on their refrigerators.

What started as a lighthearted effort to make her loved ones laugh has turned into a great success for McClellan's love life.

She revealed to DailyMail.com that ever since her holiday cards started gaining public interest she has racked up a fair few dating prospects to explore in the new year.

'I do have some prospects, but the DMs are still open', she joked.
