Skeletal remains belonging to a young woman who vanished five years ago were found near a New Hampshire golf course last week — prompting calls for justice from the woman’s grieving mother, who insists “foul play was involved.”
Remains belonging to 23-year-old Amanda Grazewski, who went missing without a trace in 2020, were spotted by a drone pilot near the Hoodkroft Country Club golf course on March 20, the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office said.
The volunteer was scouring the area in Derry with the drone after police received a tip regarding the young woman’s disappearance, WMUR previously reported.
Grazewski, who struggled with addiction, was last seen leaving a friend’s home early March 17, 2020, leaving behind both her purse and phone, according to WMUR.
“I don’t know a lot, but I believe foul play was involved,” her mother, Jessica Grazewski, told the outlet. “She wouldn’t have left without all her belongings.”
Jessica Grazewski said she last heard her daughter was staying at a hotel in Nashua, about 20 miles south of her home in Manchester.
“Her money had run out, and I think she went there with her supposed friends,” her mother said.
While the younger Grazewski would occasionally go off the grid, she would always eventually check in with her mother to talk about her daughter, Madeline, who is now 9 years old, or her siblings, her mother said.
“She always stayed in touch with me eventually, whether it be a week or so and know about Madeline or the siblings,” she said.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and the Derry Police Department are investigating to determine the cause and manner of Amanda Grazewski’s death.
As the investigation continues, Jessica Grazewski says she hopes she can get justice for her daughter.
“I want her to be remembered for her good intentions, her laugh, her funniness,” she said. “The good sister she was and daughter and mother, and just her strength.”
“Our thoughts are with Amanda Grazewski’s family during this incredibly difficult time. We extend our deepest sympathy to them,” said Attorney General John Formella.
“I also want to express my gratitude to the dedicated law enforcement and forensic professionals involved in this case, as well as to the community members who have provided valuable tips throughout this investigation.”
