South Korean authorities moved on Friday to arrest impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol, Yonhap News reported, as protesters clashed with police outside his residence. Yoon faces a criminal investigation over a Dec. 3 martial law attempt, with an arrest marking an unprecedented move against a sitting president.

The Corruption Investigation Office, leading a joint team of police and prosecutors, began executing the warrant amid reports of resistance from Yoon’s Presidential Security Service. Around 2,800 police were deployed, while 100 protesters gathered early Friday to block the arrest attempt.
