The European Champions had been dominating proceedings throughout at the New York New Jersey Stadium.

Substitute Mikel Merino went close in extra-time, heading just wide from a brilliant ball-in, as Spain threatened to open up the scoring.

Emi Martinez made numerous big saves to keep Lamine Yamal and co at bay, but it was Torres who stepped up when it mattered.

A whipped-in delivery was kept alive by Nico Williams, heading down for the Barcelona forward to race onto and smash home with his left foot.
