The Switch 2 version of Final Fantasy XIV is great except for terrible load times. A new patch is here to fix that. Last night, the game underwent emergency maintenance to address a bug related to players’ screens going permanently dark during battle phase transitions in dungeons or when attempting to revive a K.O.’d player. It seems to have worked. Players are now reporting reduced loading times.

There were also a couple of issues affecting Switch 2 players who use touch controls. Apparently, the game would mark players using touch controls in dungeons as inactive, removing them from the dungeon. There were also issues with touch control targeting in a Gold Saucer shooting mini-game. Both of those glitches have been addressed, as well. But while you can use the Switch 2 mouse controls to play FFXIV, it seems like the latest update hasn’t addressed the lag issues with doing so.

The emergency hotfix addressed a number of other problems not related to the Switch 2, however. You can check out the full patch notes here.
