Workers at Starbucks stores plan to go on a five-day strike starting Friday to protest lack of progress in contract negotiations with the company.
The strikes are scheduled to begin in Los Angeles, Chicago and Seattle and could spread to hundreds of stores across the country by Christmas Eve.
Starbucks Workers United, the union that has organized workers at 535 company-owned US stores since 2021, said Starbucks has failed to honor a commitment made in February to reach a labor agreement this year.

There are lots of other places to buy overpriced coffee. Starbucks is not exactly a business or service vital to the American economy.

This seems like natural selection. As I always say, “We have coffee at home.”

As I say, if you don’t like your job, get another one.

Stupid is finally starting to hurt. Both starbucks workers and customers.

Go ahead! Please do! I avoid their rotgut coffee like the p[lague. I make my own latte each morning, but if I’m traveling I always look for local espresso stands or cafes first. If I have to go corporate it’s something like Dutch Brothers or Tim Hortons.

Personally I’ve never understood how non skilled labor can strike.

Well not when unions were first forming and people were treated like animals.
But that’s gone about 70 years at least and hasn’t been terrible for probably 90
So yeah, in this day and age in the USA...just go somewhere else.

Why is there a Christmas rush at Starbucks?

I would occasionally go into a Starbucks to get a Pike Roast black. Not my favorite coffee but would do in a pinch. But in my business suit and crew-cut, I was always a fish out of water.
Now that I have long hair and a beard, I don't go into them anymore as the clientele and workers now assume I'm one of them!

There was always the option to work for yourself. People didn’t have to have a “job” where they showed up at the same place every day. If you like the conditions, fine. If not, go elsewhere. You are not a slave.

Thanks for posting. Interesting. Sipping my Warpath coffee this am. I do like Starbucks dark roast, Tim Horton & Dunkin’ Donuts. K cups are a great invention. It’s been many years since I bought a cup of coffee from a barista.

This seems very tone deaf! They believe themselves to be indisputable or a critical function? I think it won’t end well.

I hate Starbucks coffee and their pretentious arrogance, but I also take perverse pleasure in walking through picket lines. Hopefully the strikes grow to my neck of the woods.

Another Biden success story: “Biden Is the Most Pro-Labor President Since F.D.R.”
Hey, let’s have a strike right before Christmas like Amazon and Starbucks and show people just what a great President Biden has been for unions.
