Aaron Rodgers should trade the huddle for the U.S. Senate, according to Steve Bannon.
The former Trump strategist made the pitch on his “War Room” program, urging the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback to run against Democratic Sen. John Fetterman in Pennsylvania if the freshman incumbent doesn’t switch parties.
“Hey, Fetterman, you know you’d better quit playing footsie. If you want to come over and be a Republican, ok. Do it … But Aaron Rodgers will take you down in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania,” Bannon said.
Bannon also argued that Rodgers would serve the country better than Republican Majority Leader John Thune, whom he dismissed in crude terms while praising the quarterback as a fighter.

Rodgers grew up in California but bought a mansion outside Pittsburgh after signing a one-year deal with the Steelers in 2025. The 42-year old four-time NFL MVP later signed on for an additional year, though he says the 2026 season will be his last, according to ESPN. Rodgers has one of the most decorated résumés at his position, trailing only Peyton Manning in league MVP awards.
The quarterback has also built a close political alliance with Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who vetted Rodgers as a possible running mate during his 2024 presidential bid.
Rodgers publicly refused to take the COVID-19 vaccine and has backed the “Make America Healthy Again” agenda.
