A stranger shoved an 86-year-old woman to the ground — breaking her teeth — in a random attack near the exit of an Upper East Side supermarket over the weekend, cops said.
The victim was leaving Morton Williams on Third Avenue near East 63rd Street around 1:25 p.m. Sunday when the maniac suddenly pushed her from behind, authorities said.
The force of the shove sent the senior face-first into a pole supporting scaffolding set up outside the store, the sources said.
The blow left her with multiple broken teeth, as well as injuries to her left eye and back, cops said.
She was taken to Weill Cornell Medical Center, where she was listed in stable condition.
Video released by the NYPD Wednesday afternoon shows the suspected attacker pacing back and forth inside the store. He fled the scene after the attack, heading southbound on Third Avenue, cops said.
He is described as a man with a dark complexion, last seen wearing a gray and burgundy jacket, a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, gray sweatpants and gray shoes.
Anyone with information on the broad-daylight violence is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at https://crimestoppers.nypdonline.org/, or on X @NYPDTips.
The unprovoked shoving came a week after a 70-year-old man was punched for no reason on a Harlem train, and a gangbanger parolee was arrested in connection to the assault.
Also last week, an unhinged stranger with a lengthy rap sheet allegedly pelted a 67-year-old woman with a bottle inside the Grand Central-42nd Street station, police said.
