Streamer Drake Cummings locked himself inside a homemade jail cell and refused to leave until his mom defeated one of Elden Ring’s early bosses.

The challenge was inspired by a viral TikTok asking whether viewers would rather spend three years in prison or remain locked up until their mom beat Elden Ring.

Cummings decided to put his own version to the test, with Margit, the Fell Omen, standing between him and freedom.

Streamer spends 24 hours in jail for Elden Ring challenge

Cummings built a makeshift jail cell in his streaming setup before handing his mom the controller and locking himself inside.

His original sentence was set at 10 hours, but viewers were able to add more time while his mom attempted to learn Elden Ring and take down Margit.

That proved easier said than done. Cummings remained behind bars while coaching his mom through repeated attempts at the notoriously difficult early-game boss.

As is often the case for Elden Ring first-timers, Cummings’ mom reached Margit relatively early in the stream, around nine hours in. After attempting to beat one of the game’s first big obstacles and not quite getting over the finish line, though, she left to go and level up elsewhere and get better gear before returning hours later.

Following pointers from Cummings, his mom cleared several optional side dungeons and bosses, returning to Stormveil Castle’s entrance just before the 24-hour mark for a rematch.

The challenge ultimately stretched to around 24 hours, with his mom dying 240 times before finally defeating Margit and securing her son’s release.

Cummings has since uploaded the full stream to Twitch, along with highlights documenting the journey.
