Study: Just One Extra Hour of Exercise Each Week Can Reduce Your Risk for Common Heart Condition

An NYU study using Fitbit data suggests that modest weekly physical activity may reduce atrial fibrillation risk by up to 65%, underscoring the heart health benefits of regular exercise. A new study reveals that adding an extra hour of physical activity each week can reduce the risk of developing the most common type of irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia) by 11%.
Led by researchers at NYU Langone Health, the investigation focused on atrial fibrillation, a condition in which the heart’s upper two chambers beat rapidly and irregularly instead of at a consistent pace. If left untreated, this can lead to stroke, heart failure, and other issues. While past studies have linked exercise to reduced risk of this type of arrhythmia, nearly all of these analyses have relied on the participants’ often inaccurate estimates of their own activity levels, the authors say.

Thank you very much and God bless you.
Interesting. I like doing interval classes and spin during the week.

I’ve been thinking about getting a Teeter fit step. Maybe I should stop thinking and do it.

I had atrial fibrillation for two solid years. My cardiologist wanted me to drink 64 ounces of fluids every day.
I got tired of water, so started drinking 64 ounces of sodium free V8 juice every day.
My atrial fibrillation went away after two weeks and has not returned. It has been 124 days and counting.
Turns out low sodium V8 is loaded with potassium. Evidently the reason I had afib was because of a potassium deficiency. I now drink two 64 ounce bottles of low sodium V8 a week to maintain my potassium level.
Before my afib went away, my cardiologist was talking about a pacemaker and/or ablation, but I cured it myself with potassium.
Turns out this is not an unknown cure. I talked to somebody who went to the hospital for scheduled surgery but he had afib so they put him on a potassium drip overnight and the next morning the afib was gone and he had the surgery.
Potassium costs nothing. Hospitals make money by installing pacemakers and performing ablations.
If you have afib, you should try getting a lot of potassium. It can’t hurt you. I did the calculation, and 64 ounces of low sodium V8 contains 14 grams of potassium chloride, which is equivalent to about a teaspoon.
Potassium chloride is cheap. It tastes terrible, even if you mix it with something. If you can’t afford 64 ounces of low sodium V8 a day, you could try a teaspoon of potassium chloride every day for a couple of weeks.

“Spin”
Then Karine at the White House should be in good shape from all her spin of the Biden and Harris news.
“I already answered that and won’t waste all our time doing that again.”
“That was found to be fake news from the Right.”
Karine Jean-Pierre snaps at reporters after denying Joe Biden’s cognitive decline.
“I meet with President Biden often and he is very aware of large amounts of foreign and national affairs information and energetic about expressing the background of his daily decisions.”
“He is as sharp as ever.”
