Take-Two’s hunt for GTA 6 leaker “rapidly evolving” as two suspects identified

Take-Two is reportedly closing in on the leaker behind the wave of Grand Theft Auto 6 leaks, telling courts that things are “rapidly evolving.”

Just over a week before Rockstar Games’ big extended look at GTA 6 on Netflix, Grand Theft Auto fans were shocked to see a number of new leaks hit social media.

These new clips came from Cyberleek, an account promoting a crypto memcoin alongside looks at GTA 6 gameplay. While fans were looking for Rockstar to make a statement regarding the leaks, they didn’t do so until August 26, after 15 clips had already hit the internet, and Cyberleek had banked over $250,000.

Since then, Take-Two has issued subpoenas to a number of platforms, trying to hunt down the leaker. Now, it appears they are closing in.

Take-Two closing in on GTA 6 leaker

According to TorrentFreak, a second subpoena filed by Take-Two is requesting that it be sealed, meaning the names of the people they’re looking into are hidden from the public.

“Take-Two has identified one additional Discord user and obtained additional identifying information for a previously identified Discord user, as well as additional information concerning the community servers identified in its prior subpoena for which it now seeks more targeted information,” the request says.

It also says that their investigation is “rapidly evolving,” and “public disclosure of this information could compromise” things.

Rockstar initially said the leaks were “heartbreaking,” but fans have grown in hype since the official reveal on Netflix.

That showcase included a handful of creators being allowed to talk about what they saw at Rockstar North in Edinburgh, including how Jason and Lucia’s relationship works, as well as new features around stealing cars. 

A number of features used in Red Dead Redemption 2 are also coming back in the new game. 

Grand Theft Auto 6 is still slated to release on November 19, with pre-loads starting on November 12.
