Talarico’s Voter Registration Raises Questions About Fraud

Democratic Texas State Rep. and Senate hopeful James Talarico is facing accusations of hypocrisy after reports surfaced that he voted using his parents’ address despite accusing his Republican opponent of voter fraud for allegedly voting from an address that was not his own.

Talarico said GOP nominee and Attorney General Ken Paxton was committing voter fraud and was “voting illegally in six elections in a row from the wrong address” after July reports showed he had been using the address of his estranged wife to vote, where he had not lived for two years, The Texas Tribune reported. But on Wednesday, ProPublica and The Texas Tribune reported that Talarico voted in the last five elections using his parents’ address despite purchasing a home of his own in 2022.

“It is fitting that James Talarico broke the law in the most loser and beta way possible by pretending to live at his mommy’s house,” Republican National Committee spokesman Zach Kraft told the Daily Caller. “Texans deserve answers about why Talarico lied and what else he is lying about.”

Paxton had already accused Talarico in late July of “lying to voters and shamelessly committing election fraud to hold onto power,” alleging that Talarico also used his mother’s address to run for the Texas House in a Democratic district that would ensure he could maintain his seat.

Talarico, meanwhile, accused Paxton of hypocrisy, arguing that the attorney general had led a “voter fraud witch hunt” while serving as the state’s top law enforcement officer.

The Collin County Democratic Party also filed a complaint with the Texas secretary of state, calling on the office to investigate Paxton for election fraud, according to The Texas Tribune.

However, Texas ethics attorney Andrew Cates told ProPublica and The Texas Tribune that he doubts either Talarico or Paxton committed voter fraud because Texas election residency laws are “broad and vague.”

Neither the campaigns of James Talarico nor Ken Paxton responded to the Daily Caller’s request for comment.
