Taraji P. Henson has shared the one thing holding her back from fleeing the United States.

While the Empire actress, 54, has been considering leaving the country 'for a long time', she ultimately hasn't made the move yet because of her loved ones.

'I've been thinking about that for a long time,' Taraji said when asked about relocating overseas.

'I was thinking about it the first time I went to Italy. I was like 'Oh, I could live here.'

Sharing her hesitations, she told People: 'The thing is, is that I still have family here, so I'm kind of torn.

'I'm torn. But I do want a space somewhere outside of the country. I absolutely do.

'That's always been a dream of mine. But who knows, you've got to see. Because you want to feel safe you're going to.'

Taraji is mom to son Marcell Johnson, 30, whom she shared with her high school sweetheart, William Johnson. Johnson was murdered in 2003.

Earlier this week, Desperate Housewives actress Eva Longoria revealed she fled 'dystopian' America and is 'privileged' to now be living in Mexico and Spain with her family.

The Texas born actress, who has spent her 'whole adult life' in California, says she feels the American 'chapter in my life is done now' and no longer wants to live in Los Angeles, alleging the city has been 'changing'.

Eva, who has Spanish citizenship, and her producer husband José Bastón, a native of Mexico, have been living abroad with their six-year-old son Santiago while she works on her CNN miniseries Searching for Spain - a follow up to last year's Searching for Mexico.

'I get to escape and go somewhere,' the Flamin' she told Marie Claire magazine.

'Most Americans aren't so lucky. They're going to be stuck in this dystopian country, and my anxiety and sadness is for them.'

Taraji said in a recent interview that's it's 'always been a dream of mine' to live abroad

A whole host of celebrities have voiced their desire to leave the United States in recent years.

In October 2023, Cher told The Guardian that she suffered health issues as result of Donald Trump's previous term, and said this time she was determined to relocate from the U.S. under Trump's leadership.

'I almost got an ulcer the last time,' said Cher.

'If he gets in, who knows? This time I will leave.'

Following Trump's election victory, insiders have claimed that America Ferreira will flee to the UK.

It was reported earlier this week that the Ugly Betty alum, 40, was planning to relocate across the pond with her husband, Ryan Piers Williams, and their son Sebastian, six, and daughter Lucia, four.

America, who is said to be 'sick' that Trump was re-elected, will join a growing number of celebrities who have recently moved to the UK, amid growing tensions in the US.
