Trump greeted all 24 competitors and delivered brief remarks to the gallery. "Our country is doing great, better than ever before," he told the crowd. "And now, I want to watch the greatest players in the world go out and play, and play their hearts out."
Snedeker, speaking on the television broadcast after the victory was sealed, left no ambiguity about where he felt the inspiration originated.
"[Trump] told me I was going to bring some energy today for you guys. You guys need it," the captain said. "And I told him if we did this, he gets all the credit. So thank you, President Trump."

Snedeker, who represented the United States as a player at Medinah during that storied 2012 Ryder Cup, revealed he had drawn on the venue's history when rallying his squad on Saturday evening.
"I told the guys last night that funny stuff happens here. Medinah's got a history of funny things happening," he said.
The captain was also candid about his own shortcomings during the earlier sessions. "Those were my mistakes; I messed up the matchups. I messed up the snake draft this week," he admitted, before adding that Sunday's pairings were "the first time I got it right."
His pride in the squad's collective spirit was unmistakable. "I'm tired of hearing how these guys aren't close. I'm tired of hearing how we can't play team golf," Snedeker declared. "Guys just proved it right then and there."
