Climbing Tekken 8’s ranked ladder is a challenge on its own, and one streamer decided to make the entire journey blindfolded.

For Tekken 8, Beginner is essentially the game’s starting rank, while God of Destruction sits near the top of its competitive ladder. So, getting there means winning enough ranked matches to climb through the intervening ranks and taking on opponents with increasingly advanced knowledge of the game.

That requires understanding attack patterns, timing, movement, and when to defend or punish a mistake. As such, doing it blindfolded makes it all the more challenging.

However, SuperBrine completed exactly that, climbing from Beginner to God of Destruction while wearing a sleep mask. He streamed the run on Twitch across seven broadcasts, beginning in June 2026 and finishing in early October.

Speaking to IGN, SuperBrine explained that the challenge was about testing his own limits, explaining that his “primary goal was simply to take on a challenge that most people will consider impossible and prove that I can do it.”

As for how he managed it, SuperBrine credited his experience with opponents across the ranked ladder: “It comes down to a massive amount of foundational experience. Playing on multiple smurf accounts over time gave me an exact read on the game knowledge players have at different ranks. Because of that, I knew precisely which strings and flowcharts would work and which wouldn’t.”

Those strings and flowcharts are attack sequences and patterns that he could choose based on his understanding of an opponent’s likely responses. Sound then helped him follow what happened during a fight.

“Beyond that, precise hearing is crucial. You would be able to instantly differentiate specific sounds, knowing whether a move resulted in a wall splat or not, if it was a hit or a block, and if you landed a counter hit versus a normal hit. Ultimately, it’s all about paying attention to the audio and knowing exactly the type of player you are facing,” he explained.

However, the run has sparked debate over his choice of Alisa, with critics arguing that she is among the easiest characters to use. SuperBrine pushed back on suggestions that his achievement proves Tekken 8 is easy, saying the challenge required thousands of hours of game knowledge and a reliance on audio cues.
