Temperatures in Hong Kong are expected to drop significantly in the coming days, with the mercury set to dip to 13 degrees Celsius (55.4 Fahrenheit) or lower on Tuesday morning.
The Hong Kong Observatory said a cold front had formed over the northern part of mainland China’s Guangdong province and was expected to move across coastal areas on Monday morning.
While temperatures are set to range from 17 to 21 degrees throughout Sunday, they are expected to fall to a minimum of 15 degrees the next day and 13 degrees or lower early on Tuesday.
“Winds will strengthen from the north and temperatures will fall [on Monday]. The minimum temperature in the morning on Tuesday will be about 13 degrees in the urban areas, and a couple of degrees lower in the New Territories,” the forecaster said.
“It will still be cool in the morning in the following couple of days.”
The Observatory said that under the persistent influence of a monsoon, the weather would remain cool and it would be windy over the coast of Guangdong in the middle and latter parts of the week, with temperatures ranging from 14 to 19 degrees.
