This is the terrifying moment a group of balaclava-clad thieves stormed a barber shop with assault-style weapons.

The four heavily armed suspects charged into Yadiel Barbershop on Main Street in Patterson, New Jersey around 2pm Friday, and robbed five people inside the establishment.

They used the weapons to hold up employees and customers inside the shop while they stole cash, jewelry, phones, and key fob, according to ABC 7 New York

One of the men, wearing an all-black outfit with his face covered, came into the store with a long gun raised to his chest as he walked up to a barber who was trimming a customer's hair.

The barber calmly took off his bracelet and handed it to the man.

Two others were seen harassing a man outside the store, while two went in the shop, surveillance footage shows.

Four heavily armed suspects charged into Yadiel Barbershop on Main Street in Patterson, New Jersey around 2pm Friday, armed with guns, where they would rob five people.

The owner, who did not want to be identified, told News 12 New Jersey that the men stole around $1,200 in cash, a bracelet, and a necklace.

The owner, who did not want to be identified, told News 12 New Jersey that the men stole around $1,200 in cash, a bracelet, and a necklace.

Afterward, the brazen thieves left in a silver Nissan Murano.

City Councilmen, Luis Velez, who spoke with the shop's owner said they 'feel lucky' and were 'glad they didn't make a false movement' while the robbery was happening.

Mayor Andre Sayegh called the attack 'unprecedented' and 'brazen.'

'We've never seen anything like this happen,' Mayor Andre Sayegh told ABC 7 New York.

'In broad daylight near our cathedral, around school dismissal time,' he said in disbelief.

Sayegh is now calling for the local police department to be able to take control from the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General. The AG's Office took control last year while it investigates a fatal police shooting involving a mentally ill suspect, ABC 7 said.

City Councilmen, Luis Velez, who spoke with the shop's owner said they 'feel lucky' and were 'glad they didn't make a false movement' while the robbery was happening

'It’s beyond brazen and it’s time for [Attorney General] Matt Platkin’s failed political experiment to end,' Sayegh told News 12.

However, Platkin said crime has been down in Patterson since the AG's Office took over in March 2023. Sayegh argues that crime was already falling before the power was reassigned.

The barbershop shooting was the second one to occur in the area that day, with another holdup taking place around 10:30am several blocks away on Slater Street, according to ABC 7.

The victim involved in the first robbery reported two armed men dressed in all-black and ski mask approached him and demanded money. They also took jewelry and and the victim's phone.

It is unclear if the two robberies are connected.

'I’m at a loss for words, and that doesn’t happen very often,' resident and activist, Ernest Rucker, told NorthJersey.com. 'I couldn’t believe what I saw. The brazenness of it, that was something else,' he said of the second robbery.

Just a few weeks ago, city officials announced a $1.7million plan that would have more officers doing walking patrols to keep the city safe, however that section of Main Street was not included, the local outlet reported.
