CV NEWS FEED // Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has sued Dr. May Lau for providing cross-sex hormones to minors in violation of the state’s ban.

News outlet Koco reports that the lawsuit accuses Lau of providing cross-sex hormones to more than 20 minors.

The lawsuit stated that Lau “falsif[ied] medical records, prescriptions, and billing records to represent that her testosterone prescriptions are for something other than transitioning a child’s biological sex or affirming a child’s belief that their gender identity is inconsistent with their biological sex.”

Attorney General Paxton requested that the court order an injunction against Lau, and fine her up to $10,000 for each offense.

Texas law also states that the Texas Medical Board “shall revoke the medical license or other authorization to practice medicine of a physician who violates” the recent law, according to a statement on the Attorney General’s website.

Lau is an assistant professor in the pediatrics department at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. According to the lawsuit, she has hospital privileges at two local children’s health hospitals.
