Lionsgate officially unveiled the first trailer for its latest expansion of the John Wick world, Ballerina, today, teasing the origin story of Ana de Armas' Eve Macarro character and plenty of action.

We see plenty of John Wick mainstays in the trailer, which you can watch below, too, as the trailer begins with Winston (Ian McShane) telling a young Eve, "Do you like to dance? I know a school where they teach dancers. I could take you there if you'd like."

From there, we get plenty of teases of action, as well as more insight into the John Wick universe. We also get a glimpse of the late Lance Reddick as Charon, as well as Norman Reedus, who's joining the series in Ballerina.

But, significantly, there are a couple of appearances from Keanu Reeves, aka John Wick himself. The trailer ends with Eve asking, "You're him, the one they call the Baby Yaga. How do I start doing what you do?"

"Looks like you already have," he tells her.

Here's Lionsgate's official synopsis: "Taking place during the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, the film follows Eve Macarro (Ana de Armas) who is beginning her training in the assassin traditions of the Ruska Roma."

In addition to de Armas, McShane, Reddick, Reedus, and Reeves, Ballerina will also star Anjelica Huston, Gabriel Byrne, and Catalina Sandino Moreno. Len Wiseman directed the John Wick spinoff from a script by Shay Hatten.

Ballerina will hit theaters on June 6, 2025 following a delay earlier this year. It's only the latest in the ever-expanding John Wick universe; a prequel series, the Continental, aired on Peacock last year, and another spinoff film focused on Donnie Yen's Caine character was officially announced in May. Lionsgate has also said that John Wick 5 is in the works, although we haven't gotten too many solid developments about that.

In the meantime, read our 10/10 review of John Wick: Chapter 4, in which we wrote that its "incredibly staged action scenes, engaging ensemble, and stylish production design coalesce into a modern action masterclass."
