Nintendo has finally revealed a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, bringing one of the most beloved games ever made to Switch 2 in 2026.

The announcement was made during Nintendo’s June 9 Direct showcase, ending months of rumors and speculation surrounding a modern reimagining of Link’s legendary Nintendo 64 adventure.

Nintendo debuted the remake with a brand-new trailer showcasing updated visuals and a cute clip of little Link sleeping peacefully in his treehouse.

The trailer confirmed that players will once again step into the boots of Link as he journeys across Hyrule to stop Ganondorf and prevent the kingdom from falling into darkness.

While there’s currently no release date outside of the generic 2026 window, we now have confirmation that an OOT remake is real!

Nintendo has yet to confirm exactly how closely the remake follows the original game, but hopefully we’ll soon see the game’s iconic locations, characters, and moments that made the original so iconic.

Ocarina of Time has long been considered one of the most requested remakes among Nintendo’s back catalog, alongside titles such as The Wind Waker and Twilight Princess.

With a Switch 2 version of Ocarina of Time underway, it could become one of the console’s biggest releases yet. Be sure to check out every Switch 2 game that was released via our Nintendo Direct hub.
