It’s time to clock back in for “The Pitt.”
HBO has released the first trailer for Season 3 of the medical drama, which will premiere in January 2027. It follows the first day back on the job for Noah Wyle‘s Dr. Robby, after he went on a three-month sabbatical at the end of Season 2.
“I knew my first day back was gonna be…hard dealing with what we go through here. And I knew that it could get a little bit crazy,” Wyle says in dramatic voiceover. “But it’s time to get back to it.” The trailer has shots of medical staff treating screaming and severely injured patients, performing chest compressions and Robby consoling a grieving family member who received some tragic news. There’s also a shot of a man slamming his head against one of the hospital doors with a bloodied nose and another patient wrestling against the restraints that have him strapped down to a gurney. Just another day at the Pitt!
The cast includes Wyle (Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch), Patrick Ball (Dr. Langdon), Katherine LaNasa (Dana Evans), Fiona Dourif (Dr. McKay), Taylor Dearden (Dr. King), Isa Briones (Dr. Santos), Gerran Howell (Dr. Whitaker), Shabana Azeez (Javadi), Ayesha Harris (Dr. Ellis), Sepideh Moafi (Dr. Al-Hashimi) and Shawn Hatosy (Dr. Abbot).
Season 2, which premiered last January, racked up 25 Emmy nominations, including outstanding drama series; Wyle for lead actor; Ball, Hatosy and Howell for supporting actor; Dearden, Dourif, LaNasa and Moafi for supporting actress; and many more.
At the HBO Max Emmy Nominee Celebration on Sunday in Los Angeles, Wyle teased what’s to come on Season 3. “Pretty gross,” he told Variety. “Our special effects department and makeup department outdo themselves week in and week out. The level of the sophistication of their artistry continues to amaze me.”
“It gets gross,” LaNasa said. “It’s definitely gross. It’s always gross. It’s always heartbreaking and it’s always funny.”
Added Ball, “We are about to start shooting Episode 6 of Season 3 and I think it might be some of the best writing yet. The whole team is really in a flow right now. I think we have bright days ahead.”
Hatosy also talked about the latest crop of guest stars. “The way we role, every day we have a safety meeting, everybody shows up, we talk about the day’s work. It sort of makes you feel like you’re part of the family. You never know what’s going to happen once we start rolling. It is kind of a scary style of shooting. The camera is moving. We run the scenes together often. It’s a continuous take. It can be a little bit intimidating.”
