President Donald Trump's promise to serve all Americans and do away with years of vicious partisanship seems to have extended to his inauguration wardrobe.

The 47th President diplomatically, and poignantly, opted for a purple tie for the occasion in what many see as a message of unity and peace.

On Welcome to MAGAland: Inside Trump's Second 100 Days, executive editor of politics Kelly Laco and chief reporter Germania Rodriguez-Poleo break down the telling choice - and all the best moments from the historic event.

'He was wearing a tie that was actually red and blue, but it looked kind of more purple or maroon. And I mean, I think that's an obvious message,' Poleo said.

'Definitely a message he was sending with his tie. He wants to bring in Republicans and Democrats as he's already done in his cabinet with RFK Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard. So it's definitely a clear signal. It also contrasted with JD Vance's bright red tie,' added Laco.  It wasn't the only telling outfit of the day.

First Lady Melania Trump went for a subtle navy number, while Lauren Sanchez shocked in a revealing white suit.
