The Telegraph Women’s Sport Podcast gives a voice to women’s sport and women in sport – and now it is back for a second series.

Hosted by Dame Laura Kenny – the five-time Olympic cycling champion who retired earlier this year – it covers a variety of issues impacting women in sport through interviews with trailblazing female sporting figures.

The six-part series, sponsored by Mastercard, kicks off on Thursday with an episode discussing inspiration. Kenny is joined by former Aston Villa manager Carla Ward, 1994 Women’s Rugby World Cup winner Sue Dorrington and Zara Lachlan, a 21-year-old who is about to embark on an epic transatlantic row.

“You three are absolute inspirations to me, all from different angles, and I think it just shows the importance of female role models and female representation in sport,” said Kenny. “You guys ultimately are inspiring the next generation. I think we all agree how important that is and we want to see the numbers change. We want to see so many more females getting involved and staying involved in sport.”

The rest of the series will feature episodes themed around the topics of body image, money, kit, menopause and sexism, with guests including Paralympic taekwondo champion Amy Truesdale and Great Britain rugby sevens player Ellie Boatman.

The first series, which ran in 2023 and was hosted by Olympic gold medallist Sam Quek, covered a wide variety of issues: activism, ACLs, motherhood, success, periods and coaching. Guests included former Lioness Ellen White, Rugby World Cup winner Maggie Alphonsi, Alice Dearing, the first black female swimmer to represent GB at the Olympics, and Hannah Mills, the two-time Olympic gold medal-winning sailor.

Sarah Mockford, Telegraph Women’s Sports Editor, said: “Appreciation of women’s sport is on the rise and we want to celebrate those across that space, from Olympic champions to grass-roots coaches. This podcast gives women in sport a platform to discuss their successes as well as the major issues that are still being faced.”
