When Kaysi McLeod vanished one day in August 2003, her parents were thankful that they had the help of her mother's boyfriend.
After all, Scott Kimball was an FBI agent... or so he claimed.
In reality, he had spent years fooling everyone including the FBI - and his involvement in Kaysi's disappearance was something much more sinister.
It was true that Kimball worked for the bureau: the convicted conman and fraudster had been a paid FBI informant for several years. He had even negotiated his release from prison in order to provide intelligence about a string of murder-for-hire plots.
But as Kaysi's dad Rob McLeod and FBI Special Agent Jonathan Grusing would come to discover, Kimball's work often coincided with someone mysteriously going missing.
In this week's Crime Desk newsletter, McLeod and Grusing reveal the inside story of the crimes of the serial killer dubbed 'Hannibal' and the discovery of a trail of bodies in the mountain states.
