NEW YORK, NY — Following what had been a tumultuous election season and notable instances of panel members having to read legal notes on the air, the rating for The View soared after producers introduced ejection seats for when hosts make inaccurate statements.
The seats were implemented this week as a new feature to deal with the mounting controversy surrounding members of the host panel making inflammatory claims that would later have to be retracted. Under the show's new format, any host found to have made an inaccurate statement will immediately be ejected from the set.
"It's an exciting new wrinkle that will shake things up," said producer Brian Teta. "We've been receiving a lot of criticism lately about the opinions expressed by our hosts, so rather than having to go through the hassle of having them read clarifying legal notes during the show after they make false statements, they'll now just be launched out of their chairs. It'll be fun for our viewers to tune in each day to see who it will be next."
One visitor who attended the show's taping today provided an inside report. "It's definitely going to change the vibe of the show," the viewer said. "The hosts were up there complaining about Trump and Sunny Hostin made some off-hand remark about how Trump hates women, and suddenly she was launched about 30 feet in the air and completely off of the set. Everyone clapped."
At publishing time, producers confirmed that an extra-strength ejection seat had been constructed to be able to lift Whoopi Goldberg.
