The week in whoppers: Biden offers a parting doozy, Rep. Maxine Waters slams the rich for LA fires and more

Diary of disturbing disinformation and dangerous delusions

This boast:

“When I became president, the numbers [of illegal migrants] came way down.”

— President Biden, Monday

We say: President Biden spent his last week in office as dishonest as ever — taking full credit for the Gaza cease-fire, warning that climate change is an “existential threat,” etc.

The doozy? His claim that the number of illegal migrants fell when he took office.

Pathetic: Nationwide “encounters,” per his own Border Patrol, actually quadrupled during Biden’s watch, from about 3 million during Donald Trump’s presidency to 12 million since 2021.

It’s a big reason Kamala Harris lost in November.

This remark:

“The richest people [should] pay their fair taxes so that we can have the money to provide [firefighting] services.”

— Rep. Maxine Waters, Saturday

We say: California’s problem isn’t a lack of money or cheapskate rich folk.

It’s got the highest top income-tax rate in the country, and “the richest” already pay more than their “fair share” (the top 1% pony up nearly half of Cali’s income-tax revenue).

No, the state’s fires are the result of rotten government management and perverse priorities that left hydrants dry and manpower short and that turned forests into tinderboxes waiting to ignite.

This claim:

“The United States is in a stronger, more secure position [than four years ago].”

— Biden National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, Monday

We say: Uh-oh. The last time Sullivan made such an assessment, claiming in October 2023 the Middle East was “quieter” than “in two decades” (and taking credit for it), Hamas launched its Oct. 7 slaughterfest just days later — igniting hellfire across the entire region.

The good news? The damage Sullivan and the rest of Team Biden did to national security can be fixed by Team Trump, starting Monday.

This gibberish:

“It’s critically important that, to the extent you can find anything that gives you an ability to be patient in this extremely dangerous and unprecedented crisis, that you do.”

— Kamala Harris, Monday

We say: Harris took 29 words to send a cold-hearted, two-word message (“Be patient!”) to fire-ravaged Californians.

She might as well have said, “Let them eat cake.”

Be very thankful you won’t have to listen to such idiocy for the next four years.
