Now, it's been a very busy year for the Labour Party after a disastrous two years of Sir Keir Starmer. He had to go.
Replaced by ex-Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham. And today is day one of Andy's first ever Labour conference as leader.
So how has he done so far? Well, he kicked off with this.
He said: "We've had a decade since Brexit and it's been a decade of too much drift, too much division, and we need to draw a line on that. We need to set out a new direction for the country."
You know, the last time he did a sort of opening speech like this, he ran off afterwards and didn't answer any questions, remember that?
When he became leader in the first speech and didn't mention the boats, a problem that had he addressed immediately and attacked with gusto, would have won him huge favour with many people across all parties and indeed favour with the British public and his own voter base.
But instead he chose to focus on devolution and slogans. What are you talking about, bring back hope?
Andy set up No10 North, another talking shop. He ate pork scratchings with ex-Defence Secretary John Healey, who under the previous leadership, resigned on a matter of principle that the Government weren't spending enough on defence.

John wrote a stinging resignation letter, but now appointed as Chancellor by Andy, doesn't want to give more money to defence. The irony.
After we experience the highest day of boat crossings by migrants this year, Andy said this: "Look at the facts. So net migration is down 80 per cent on what it was in the Boris Johnson era.
"Boat crossings are down 50 per cent this year on what they were in the early 2020. So I understand people's concerns and I will be relentless in addressing their concerns."
Yeah, I mean, even Shabana Mahmood has come up with some great plans, but unfortunately it seems that disgraced ex-Housing Secretary Angela Rayner didn't get the memo. Andy's party has made enemies of practically everyone.
After appointing Ed Miliband as Foreign Secretary, Ed decided to annoy Israel.
The Americans aren't happy either. Not surprised. Andy looked nervous when facing Donald Trump. Why Andy is foolishly sticking to Keir Starmer's ridiculous Chagos deal is beyond me.
And now the Argentinians are muscling in on the weakness of this country, demanding the Falklands, an island that has nothing to do with them.
But I guess the Chagos has nothing to do with the Mauritians, so who can blame them for trying? So, of course, some of the Commonwealth countries are now demanding reparations.
Why not? Seeing as we are being so generous, this country is falling apart - with rumours of mansion taxes, etc, they are taxing literally everything that moves. I'd say it's going pretty well, Andy, don't you?
