A free Pokemon fan game turns battling Red into a daily challenge, handing everyone the same random team and one shot at a scored victory.
Pokemon fans keep finding ways to revisit the classics, including a Gen 1 project that lets players explore Kanto in first person and VR. Daily Red gives that nostalgia a Wordle-style routine.
Available at daily-red.com, the unofficial browser game assigns six level 100 Pokemon from Generations 1 through 3. Everyone receives the same lineup each day, with the goal of defeating Red on Mt. Silver.
Daily Red makes your team the daily puzzle
Red fields Pikachu, Espeon, Snorlax, Venusaur, Charizard and Blastoise, all at level 100. His team stays fixed, and Pikachu always opens the fight.
You can choose your lead before starting, then select attacks or switch Pokemon during battle. The challenge is finding a winning strategy with whatever lineup you’ve been dealt.
Daily RedIt’s a focused spin on the series’ combat at a time when other fan projects are attempting much larger reinventions. PokeWorlds Online, for example, is being built inside Hytale with the ambition of turning classic Pokemon into a multiplayer adventure.
Daily Red’s Wordle connection comes from its shared challenge, streak tracking and spoiler-free results grid. There’s one official battle each day, followed by unlimited practice runs that won’t affect your streak.
A fresh team unlocks at midnight in your local time zone. Playing requires no account or download, although progress is saved in your browser.
The website also clarifies that it’s an independent version inspired by the original open-source Daily Red project. It uses its own battle engine, so its teams and battles can differ from the original.
