Former NBC Anchor Billy Bush recently exposed the mainstream media for leading a coordinated attack against President-elect Donald Trump in his first presidential campaign. During an interview with conservative commentator Tucker Carlson, Bush explained that across the media, entire teams were solely dedicated to digging up unfavorable stories about Trump to thwart his presidency.
Bush asserted that such conduct extended well beyond covering the news, constituting “activism.” The anchor explained that this was a coordinated effort across legacy media networks, evidenced by the consistent narrative that, even when flawed, other outlets refused to challenge. Ultimately, Bush claimed this was the very beginning of what would be coined “Trump Derangement Syndrome” (TDS).
Broaching the topic of TDS, Carlson asked, “You said this was the beginning of Trump Derangement Syndrome. Did you sense that at NBC?” Bush immediately said, “Oh, God…absolutely.” He added, “Remember this over at ABC News, they did at the same time, when Trump became president, they launched a 70 … they built a 75 person investigative unit. I know the guy who was head of it.”
Bush added that the chief objective of the investigative unit was to discover “anything negative on Trump,” seeking to “find stuff on him and get him out” and undermine his political career. Blasting the legacy media for not upholding sound standards of journalistic integrity, the former anchor asserted, “This is not journalism. This is not news. It is activism.”
Furthermore, Bush explained why media outlets didn’t hold each other accountable. “When NBC does the sh*tty thing that they did, ABC and CBS don’t call it out,” he said. “You’re competing with each other. I would want to pound my competitor. Like, look what you did. That was dirty, because all of them would have done it too probably,” he told Tucker. “They all shared that mission.”
Bush then addressed the infamous 2005 videotape in which Trump made crude remarks about women in a conversation between him and Bush when he was an Access Hollywood host. “Like this recording of this bus tape that was a I would have been fired if tt had leaked out then for hurting the star 11 years later in a lawsuit over Miss Universe and whatever else.”
Bush added that the mentality had completely changed, noting, “NBC feels completely differently about Donald Trump and now it’s get him at all costs. Get him out of this presidential race at all costs. I don’t care who we have to kill or shoot in the head on the way, including Billy Bush, no problem.”
The wide-ranging interview sparked reactions from conservatives on social media, who sounded off on the mainstream media. Wall Street Apes commented on the discussion, “How is what the media doing in America not criminal? They are involved in just about every major criminal scandal and they’re never held accountable for literally anything.” Another person said, “Enjoyed that. Always thought Billy got a bad shake. Being raised in Hollywood around Hollywood myself, you guys actually played pretty nice, because you both could have spilled a lot more tea, but didn’t.”
