Dark Mass is a terrifying new horror game that plunges players into the dark depths of the ocean, forcing them to contend with some psychological terrors.
Best described as Subnautica spliced with a bloody dash of Resident Evil, Dark Mass is a psychological horror game that aims to deliver plenty of freights. If the ocean itself wasn’t terrifying enough (we’ve seen Jaws), then Path Game’s upcoming oceanic horror aims to dial it up to 100.
Just like Eyes Never Wake which lets the monster see you through your webcam, Dark Mass has a unique twist that will have players screaming out. According to the official description, players will need to navigate through “fully underwater” environments all the while they avoid the otherworldly horrors that lurk in the grungy sunken manor.
If Silent Hill f’s eerie atmosphere and shambling corpses have you creeped out, then Dark Mass should be on your radar.
Fully-underwater horror game aims to scare
During the brief trailer, we get to see the main protagonist Alice dive into the murky depths of the ocean in search of a centuries-old manor. However, not everything is as it seems. The underwater ruin is home to some particularly creepy beings that look a little too happy to see Alice.
As noted on the official Steam Page, Dark Mass is a fully underwater horror game where players will be tasked with exploring the ruins of a sunken manor. It’s here where there will be plenty of psychological terrors, immersive exploration, and puzzles that will keep players on their toes.
The game’s YouTube description paints a little more detail on what players can expect:
“As Alice, a deep-sea explorer, you and your brother Reed uncover a long-forgotten wreck. But beneath it lies something far more sinister—a manor lost to time, untouched by the world above, hiding a dark curse. Survive the horrors lurking within, solve disturbing ritualistic puzzles, and make choices that will shape your fate.”
Dark Mass doesn’t have a release date yet but will be released on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
