Watch as new England manager Thomas Tuchel shuts down a request from his German compatriot during a press conference.
The 51-year-old was speaking to reporters following the announcement of his first squad as England manager.
One reporter made a specific request for Tuchel to speak in German in response to one of her questions but he was unwilling to accommodate her demand “out of respect” for his surroundings.
She asked: “I am asking the question in English. Your goal is to bring it [football] home and I wonder if what you’ve learned since January that can help you on that mission?
“If you could answer that in English and in German, I will waive my second question.”
A grinning Tuchel responded: “I would like to do it [my response] in English. Out of respect for where we are and for the others [reporters].”

The man who has enjoyed a glittering career in club football is trying his hand at international management for the first time, and he told the reporter he is delighted with his decision to spearhead England’s bid to bring home a first major trophy since 1966.
“Every day I am more happy that I took the decision and I was given the chance to be in charge of the England squad”, he said.
Newcastle United's Dan Burn has made the team for the first timePA
“I love the players and the intensity of the Premier League and of course international football and the way they compete.
“We have had a good start together. We have established a good line of communication with the players, as far as this was possible. The differences with club football are obvious.
“We are excited to be on the pitch on Monday to finally feel the players and hug the players and push the players on the training pitch.
“This will make a huge difference.”
Tuchel will be learning first hand the level of scrutiny afforded to the England manager after announcing his first squad.
The ex-Chelsea man has raised eyebrows by handing Newcastle defender Dan Burn a first call-up and bringing Marcus Rashford back into the fold after he was frozen out by Manchester United.
The 2020 Champions League winner has also faced scrutiny for the amount of time he has spent in his native Germany since taking the England reins.
“I think you confuse the time a little bit between October and January. I was many times in Germany and enjoyed my time off because I was not on the job.
"Since I am on the job I’m based in London, I spend many days in St George's Park, we watched almost 25 matches live to see every player like at least once in the stadium - a lot of traveling.
"From time to time I was in Germany to see my children but the majority of the time I was here in London so I don’t really get the point of the story.”
