TikTok users in Canada say app down for them too as US ban kicks in

Canadian TikTok users are claiming the app is also down for them as the U.S. ban takes effect, with dozens of annoyed Canadian users flocking to X to vent their frustrations.

On Saturday night, the popular social media app was removed from American app stores, with access blocked for American users as a warning message reading, "A law banning TikTok has been enacted in the U.S. Unfortunately, that means you can't use TikTok for now," with two options at the bottom prompting users to "Learn more" or "Close app."

The message also shouted out President-elect Donald Trump, with developers writing, "We are fortunate that President Trump has indicated that he will work with us on a solution to reinstate TikTok once he takes office. Please stay tuned!"

But the ban, which was supposed to affect Americans only, seems to also be impacting their northern neighbors, with dozens of Canadian TikTokers venting on other social media platforms about their apps giving them the same warning message despite residing outside the U.S.

"BRUH WHY ISNT TIKTOK WORKING FOR ME IM IN CANADA????" X user @theepopprince wrote. "MY TIKTOK IS BANNED AND I LIVE IN CANADA WHAT KIND OF S--- IS THIS," @NikLaFlame added. "Why is my tiktok not working??? I LIVE IN CANADA," @Aiich10 tweeted.
