Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz tried to play clean-up for President Joe Biden after he called half of the country 'garbage.'
Biden royally botched the Democrats' response to controversy over a speaker at Donald Trump's midtown Manhattan rally calling Puerto Rico a 'floating pile of garbage.'
There was massive MAGA outrage after the president said on Tuesday night: 'The only garbage I see floating out there is [Trump] supporters.'
And even Democrats warned that it is not smart to insult MAGA voters just days before the election.
Walz insisted in an interview with CBS Mornings on Wednesday that the president's comments do not undercut the campaign's message of 'unity.'
Comedian Tony Hinchcliffe made the garbage joke during his routine at Trump's Madison Square Garden rally on Sunday.

But Democrats and Hispanic critics immediately jumped on the comments as proof of Trump's true thoughts towards the community and other minorities.
'You compared Trump supporters to Nazis. Biden called them 'garbage.' Hillary called them 'deplorables.' Doesn't that undercut your fake 'unity' message?' CBS Mornings host Tony Dokoupil asked Walz.
The 2024 Democratic vice presidential nominee replied: 'No, certainly not.'
In a separate interview on Good Morning America Wednesday morning, Gov. Walz appeared to blame Trump.
'Donald Trump's divisive rhetoric needs to end. He called this a garbage country and continues on with the enemy from within,' Walz lamented.
He reiterated that he and Vice President Kamala Harris' message is 'there's a place for all of us here.'

Trump responded to Biden's comments during his rally in Allentown, Pennsylvania on Tuesday night, claiming that it was worse than when Hillary Clinton called his supporters a 'basket of deplorables' during the 2016 presidential race.
'Wow, that's what [Biden] says… garbage. I think it's worse [than deplorables],' he fired back.
He was referring to Hillary Clinton's now-infamous 2016 rant about the 'basket of deporables' who supported Trump during his first run.
'Please forgive him for he knoweth not what he say. Honestly he doesn't. And I'm convinced that he likes me more than he likes Kamala,' Trump continued in a nod to Biden's declining mental abilities.
Trump's allies quickly piled on criticism of Joe Biden's comments.
'Just moments ago, Joe Biden stated that our supporters are garbage. I hope their campaign is about to apologize,' said Florida Senator Marco Rubio who came up on stage with Trump.
'We are not garbage, we are patriots who love America.'

J.D. Vance was quick to condemn Biden, saying 'this is disgusting.'
'This is disgusting. Kamala Harris and her boss Joe Biden are attacking half of the country. There's no excuse for this. I hope American reject it.'
Trump's son Don Jr. added: 'The media spent all week crying about a joke from a comedian. Meanwhile, Tim Walz called Trump supporters Nazis. Kamala Harris refused to condemn it. And now Kamala's biggest Democrat ally, Joe Biden, is calling all Trump supporters "garbage." Absolutely disgusting!!!'
Meanwhile, Kamala Harris called Trump 'unstable' and slammed his 'obsession' with 'grievance' and 'revenge' from the D.C. Ellipse with the White House as her backdrop, seven days before what could be one of the closest races in history.
