Tottenham predicted lineup vs Wolves - Premier League

An increasingly divided fanbase will doubtlessly begin to turn in unison if Tottenham Hotspur fail to end 2024 on a high.

There are a seemingly endless list of figures and circumstances to blame for Spurs' current malaise, with a Boxing Day defeat at Nottingham Forest leaving the Lilywhites firmly entrenched in mid-table obscurity.

Ange Postecoglou has guided Spurs to their worst first half to a Premier League season since 2008/09, yet many factions of the fanbase still believe he's the man to turn the club's fortunes around. Still, Sunday's bout feels seismic.

The squad remains depleted and the boss is still short of options in key areas of the pitch. It's been that way for much of his tenure.

Here's how Tottenham could line up against Wolves in their final outing of 2024.

GK: Fraser Forster - Aside from shaky footwork, Forster has generally been fine between the sticks for Spurs and is hardly at the forefront of their concerns. He'll remain the starter while Guglielmo Vicario nurses a broken ankle.

RB: Pedro Porro - Porro's form has suffered due to overload this season. He plays such a demanding role, and the respite offered by Djed Spence should've been welcomed. However, Spence is suspended on Sunday so Porro will come back in.

CB: Archie Gray - You wouldn't say Gray's been a shining light as such, but the teenager has acquitted himself remarkably well given the situation he's been thrust into.

CB: Yves Bissouma - Radu Dragsuin is a doubt for Sunday after taking a knock to the ankle on Boxing Day and Ben Davies has been ruled out, leaving Postecoglou with a defensive injury crisis. Midfielder Yves Bissouma may be forced to drop into defence as an emergency alternative.

LB: Destiny Udogie - It's been a stop-start campaign for Udogie, who has struggled mightily for consistency. While his workload has contributed to his indifferent form, you feel like the Italian now needs a string of games in the side.

CM: Rodrigo Bentancur - After six weeks on the sidelines, Bentancur could be in line for his second start in four days.

CM: Pape Sarr - Sarr has played well this season and operated as one of the lynchpins. Spurs require his legs in the middle of the park.

CM: James Maddison - Maddison couldn't impact proceedings off the bench on Boxing Day and it seems likely that he'll be brought into the XI again given the form he's displayed over the past few weeks. It's been a productive individual campaign thus far.

RW: Dejan Kulusevski - Ange will want to have Kulusevski and Maddison working in creative tandem without sacrificing midfield control. The Swede has starred centrally this term, but he can also perform superbly well out wide.

ST: Dominic Solanke - The summer arrival is no Harry Kane, but he's enjoyed a fine start to his Tottenham career. There's no chance he drops out of the XI on Sunday.

LW: Son Heung-min - Son really can't cope with the demands of a Premier League schedule anymore, but Ange's options in reserve are so underwhelming that the skipper will probably have to trot out from the outset again this weekend.
