Toy Story 3 On Xbox Is Being Delisted To Make Way For The Remaster

Toy Story 3 on Xbox 360 and PS3 was a surprisingly good game and was, weirdly enough, Korn lead singer Johnathan Davis’ favorite video game. So a lot of people were excited to hear Disney announce a remaster earlier this year. But ahead of the release of that new version, Disney is quietly delisting the original backward-compatible 360 version of Toy Story 3 from the Xbox Store.

News of Toy Story 3 being removed from the Xbox digital game store wasn’t announced in some big, flashy post on social media. Instead, it was announced in the game’s store description via newly added text. As spotted by TrueAchievements earlier this week, the Xbox 360 version of Toy Story 3 now includes a new message announcing that in late September the game will be removed from the store to make way for the remaster, which is directly mentioned and advertised in the added paragraph.

Starting on September 29, 2026, Toy Story 3 will no longer be available for purchase. Players who have purchased Toy Story 3 will still be able to access the game after this date. Toy Story 3: The Complete Edition, will be released on October 15th, 2026 on Xbox Series X|S, and will include all of the features in the original game with updated graphics and additional new features.

Toy Story 3 currently costs $10 on Xbox, and can be played on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. Meanwhile, Toy Story 3: The Complete Edition will cost $20. As mentioned above, if you already own the original game, you’ll still be able to download and play it after September 29.

I actually am pretty excited for both Toy Story Retro Round-Up, a collection of old Toy Story games that will be playable on modern consoles, and Toy Story 3: The Complete Edition. I’m always a fan of old games getting ported to new platforms to bring them to more people and make them easier to play.

But delisting the original version of Toy Story 3 ahead of the release of the upcoming remaster is a shitty move by Disney. You don’t have to do this. For example, Ubisoft has promised it has no plans to delist Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag on any storefronts, despite recently releasing a remake of that game. That’s how you do it. But I guess Disney wants that extra $10 from people looking to relive their nostalgic memories of playing Toy Story 3.
