A South Carolina man who admitted to threatening to assassinate Republican South Carolina Rep. Nancy Mace will avoid prison time after receiving a sentence that includes house arrest and probation.
Samuel Theodore Cain, a biological man who identifies as a transgender woman named “Roxie Wolfe,” posted to X on April 26, 2025, that he was going to assassinate Mace with a gun, according to a May press release on Mace’s website.
“I’M GOING TO ASSASSINATE REPRESENTATIVE NANCY MACE WITH A GUN AND I’M BEING 100% DEAD ASS,” Cain posted, according to the press release. (RELATED: Trans Arizona Democrat Arrested For Breaking Into Home, Threatening Individual With Knife)
Cain was arrested in May 2025 and attempted to bond out three times but was consistently denied and was brought to tears as a result, The Post Millennial reported.
The activist eventually pleaded guilty and was sentenced Tuesday to five years in prison, which was then suspended in favor of 30 months of house arrest followed by five years of probation, according to The Post Millennial.

— The Post Millennial (@TPostMillennial) July 23, 2026The sentence also includes a restraining order to protect Mace and an extensive list of other requirements, including GPS monitoring, psychiatric evaluations, a curfew, weekly drug testing, and no access to social media.
Cain will not serve prison time so long as the conditions of the sentence are met, despite making repeated threats against Mace while awaiting trial, according to The Post Millennial.
The trans activist reportedly made additional statements while in custody during a discussion about the death of Charlie Kirk. This included comments indicating he would remain a threat to Mace if given the opportunity, according to Live 5 News.

“The fabric of our country is being torn from within,” Mace said, according to Live 5 News. “We are consumed by violent threats against the people who serve it, but nothing will stop me from fighting for South Carolina.”
Following the arrest in 2025, Mace’s office announced that Cain is the first trans activist to be charged with threatening her life, despite receiving several other threats, according to the May press release.
“The trans movement is fueling violence,” Mace said in the statement. “Capitol Police and SLED [South Carolina Law Enforcement Division] moved fast on this death threat, and they should. No one should face murder threats for calling out radical gender ideology.”
Another person making threats to Mace, Shayla Addison, was charged in January for sending text messages and emails to Mace’s campaign where she threatened to kill her and blow up her office, according to the congresswoman’s office. Addison was sentenced to 27 months in federal prison on Tuesday.
Despite these threats, Mace has doubled down on her mission.
“We won’t back down. We won’t stop fighting to protect women and kids,” Mace said in the May press release.
The Daily Caller reached out to Greenville County prosecutors for comment.
