Hong Kong’s weather forecaster will lower the No 8 typhoon signal at 10.20am, as Tropical Storm Toraji is set to weaken gradually and education authorities announce that classes of afternoon schools will resume on Thursday.

“Classes of PM primary and secondary schools and evening schools will resume today,” the Education Bureau said.

The Airport Authority is also expected to offer updates on flight arrangements at around 8am.

A check by the Post showed most flights to and from Hong Kong were able to land or take-off normally.

The Hong Kong Observatory said Toraji would weaken and move away from the city, and the local winds will moderate gradually during the day today, adding the signal will be lowered to No 3 at 10.20am.

“There will be occasional squally showers today. Seas are very rough with swells. Members of the public are advised to stay away from the shoreline and not to engage in water sports,” it said.
