However, Palestinians enduring an Israeli genocide dismiss his threats as hollow amidst widespread destruction and mass civilian casualties.
The displaced Palestinian population in Gaza has described the Israeli military's relentless bombardment as unparalleled in scale.
"We can safely say the Israeli military has used everything possible across the Gaza Strip," Hani Mahmoud, a Palestinian journalist reporting from Deir el-Balah, said.
From bunker-buster bombs and precision missiles to drones and fighter jets, the Israeli arsenal has ravaged the region, turning Gaza into what some are calling a "testing lab" for advanced weaponry.
"The kind of ‘hell’ Trump is talking about is a joke here," Mahmoud noted. "Every weapon has already been used to kill a large number of civilians."
Palestinians are focused on one critical outcome: a ceasefire to halt the killings, the release of prisoners on both sides, and an end to the protracted war.
US President-elect Trump escalated tensions with his warning during a press conference, stating, “If they’re not back by the time I get into office, all hell will break out in the Middle East, and it will not be good for Hamas or anyone.”
Some analysts viewed this as a veiled suggestion of US military involvement in Gaza, a step outgoing President Joe Biden has avoided, despite significantly increasing military support for Israel.
Sami al-Arian, director of the Center for Islam and Global Affairs in Istanbul, dismissed Trump's statement as emblematic of his "imperialist mindset."
"Trump thinks his threats will force people to bow to him," al-Arian told Al Jazeera. "But in Gaza, after such massive carnage, what else can be done?"
Al-Arian criticized Israel for repeatedly obstructing ceasefire agreements over the last eight months. He argued that negotiations brokered by Qatar, Egypt, and the US have been undermined by Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s cabinet.
“Every time an agreement is reached, Netanyahu returns with new conditions,” al-Arian said, blaming members of Netanyahu’s far-right cabinet for dictating these moves.
As Gaza reels under unprecedented bombardment and a death toll approaching 46,000, the humanitarian crisis deepens, leaving little faith in external political threats.
According to the Gaza Health Ministry, at least 51 Palestinians have been killed and 78 injured in Israeli attacks over the last 24 hours. The latest deaths brought the total to 45,936, it said.
According to the announcement, Israel's war on Gaza has injured 109,274 people.
