President-elect Donald Trump said Thursday that Congress should get rid of the debt ceiling, a day after he came out against a deal reached by congressional lawmakers to fund the government before a shutdown occurs.
In a phone interview with NBC News, Trump said getting rid of the debt ceiling entirely would be the “smartest thing it [Congress] could do. I would support that entirely.”
“The Democrats have said they want to get rid of it. If they want to get rid of it, I would lead the charge,” Trump added.
Trump suggested that the debt ceiling is a meaningless concept — and that no one knows for sure what would happen if it were to someday be breached — “a catastrophe, or meaningless” — and no one should want to find out.
“It doesn’t mean anything, except psychologically,” he said.
The debt ceiling is the limit lawmakers set that determines how much the federal government can borrow to pay its bills. It doesn’t authorize any new spending.

Debt ceiling is stupid
We’re 35 trillion in debt beyond control. The interest is beyond control
It pretends Congress cares
Trump know economics better than anyone in Congress
He knows they need to stop printing money, stop with the grift and get back to work

Buehler..Buehler .. Buehler, anyone know where Ferris Buehler is today?
Crickets on this subject. If Biden, Clinton, Obama or GW bushitter proposed this, the comments would be flowing like excrement from a sick pig.

Ok, the debt ceiling is like an unenforceable law, worthless, since Congress doesnt care. But what does Trump have planned to reign in spending?

The debt ceiling is near negative where it was until Bush. Obama doubled it to 8 trillion
Now it’s a monopoly game. Except it isn’t. Trump has his team collecting all the hotels and houses rounding up the pastel money, turning over game boards

The debt ceiling is only a problem because Republicans are afraid to grow a spine.
If Republicans pushed back on the Democrats' game of government shutdown chicken, the debt ceiling wouldn't be a problem at all.

get back to work
What work? Most of the time, they don't do anything. We'd be better off if they just went home; Congress could easily be a part-time job.

Debt ceiling strategy should be a hard and firm path to getting it to zero. Eliminating a debt ceiling is a sprint in the other direction.
