Trump calls out Biden admin selling off border wall parts for ‘five cents on the dollar’

CV NEWS FEED // President-elect Donald Trump decried recent reports that the outgoing Biden administration is auctioning off unused parts and materials that were intended for the construction of a wall at the nation’s southern border.

The alleged firesale by the Biden-Harris administration comes just several weeks before Trump is to begin his second term. 

“We ordered an additional 200 miles of wall,” Trump said during a Monday news conference at his Mar-a-Lago home in Florida. “And now it’s about double the price of what it would have been six years ago.”

“And the administration is trying to sell it for five cents on the dollar knowing that we’re getting ready to put it up,” Trump said. “And what they’re doing … is almost a criminal act.”

“They know we’re going to use it,” he explained, “and if we don’t have it we’re going to have to rebuild it and it will cost double what it cost years ago and it’s hundreds of millions of dollars.”

Trump indicated that the apparent actions of the Biden-Harris administration have “nothing to do with a smooth transition. That has to do with people really trying to stop our nation.”

Sen. Eric Schmitt, R-MO, wrote on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday: “The Biden Administration is sabotaging the incoming Trump Administration just weeks ahead of President Trump’s inauguration.”

“Selling off the border wall for less than 1% of its value is a slap in the face to taxpayers,” added Schmitt, a Catholic.

Also on Tuesday, Rep. Byron Donalds, R-FL, told Newsmax that Trump “is right to be critical” of President Joe Biden’s administration.

“First of all, they created the border disaster,” Donalds explained. “Secondly, the material has been sitting on the ground for four years because the radical left Democrats did not want to do the simple thing of securing our border.”

“Biden broke our border ON PURPOSE,” Donalds wrote on X later that day. “He refused to build a wall WE PAID-FOR.”

The lawmaker continued:

Communities were destroyed. 

Innocents were killed. 

Americans rejected this. 

And Trump was elected to FIX-IT.

FOX News noted on Tuesday that Texas state officials “say they are preparing to buy and store border wall materials being auctioned off by the federal government and keep them in place until the Trump administration takes office in January.”

Last week, Republican Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick told FOX hostess Laura Ingraham, “I will bid on all of that wall, and we will buy it in Texas, and we will give it to Donald Trump. I’ve got a billion dollars in my pocket to do it.”

The Daily Wire first reported last week that videos the news source obtained from a border agent “show unused sections of the wall being hauled away on the back of flatbed trucks from a section of the border” between Arizona and Mexico. “The agent estimates that up to half a mile per day of unused border wall is being moved.”

The agent told The Daily Wire that the “goal is to move all of it off the border before Christmas.”
