Donald Trump has been pushing lawmakers to void his first-term impeachments as the White House blasted 'deranged Democrats' for their 'phony attacks.'
Trump told the Wall Street Journal that Congress should work to correct what he believes were unfair political attacks against his presidency.
'It should be done because I did nothing wrong. It was a rigged deal—it was a whole rigged situation,' he told the newspaper.
The President and his team want lawmakers to pass a resolution aimed at voiding the impeachments.
White House officials have strongly urged forward progress on this issue, an official told reporters.
'Trump-deranged Democrats have spent years launching phony attacks against the President and weaponizing the government against him,' White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson told The Daily Mail.
'It's no surprise that sane individuals are recognizing these sham efforts and are interested in undoing those shameful actions.'
She added: 'President Trump remains focused on one thing: doing what's best for the American people.'
Speaker of the House Mike Johnson has suggested he would be in favor of such a move, which has been percolating in Congress the past month.
Donald Trump and his allies are pushing lawmakers to pass a resolution aimed at voiding his first-term impeachments, a White House official said on Thursday
Democrat lawmakers announced articles of impeachment against US President Donald Trump during a press conference at the US Capitol in Washington, DC, December 10, 2019
'I think it makes a lot of sense the more the evidence comes out, the more we know they really were sham impeachments,' Johnson said, adding that it was 'a priority and something Congress should make right.'.
In April, a measure was introduced to do so by Republican Darrell Issa, alongside 23 GOP co-sponsors.
'We were saying it at the time, now we know. And they make a very compelling case that it should be expunged from the record, because it was a hyperpartisan attack job,' Johnson said.
Trump also hit out against Jamie Raskin, a Democrat Congressman from Maryland who the President believes will impeach him again if the Democrats take back the House.
'If Biden didn't give him a pardon, he'd be in jail right now! Something should be done about people like this who do bad things, but always come up on the short end because of their illegal or unscrupulous behavior, and hurt our Country in the process,' Trump said on Truth Social Thursday night.
He said he agreed with right-wing pundit Mark Levin and said Congress should 'EXPEL THE BUM' in reference to Raskin.
The resolution would allow Trump to claim a symbolic victory on a matter that has dogged him since his first term, but would have little legal significance since the Constitution provides no procedure for undoing an impeachment.
Trump was impeached twice by the US House of Representatives during his first four years in office.

The first alleged an abuse of power, and he was acquitted in early 2020.
The second accused him of incitement of insurrection over the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol by his supporters.
Trump escaped an ouster from power in both cases and his anger over the impeachments helped fuel his 2024 presidential campaign in which he defeated Democrat Kamala Harris.
It comes as the Republican Party remains in the majority in the House and Senate until at least the midterms and Trump's grip on the GOP has never been stronger.
The President's revenge tour cost another political career Tuesday night, with Representative Nancy Mace coming in dead last in the South Carolina GOP gubernatorial primary, which is heading to a runoff.
Trump has been mostly successful with his endorsement kick - killing the political careers of several high-profile Republicans, including Texas Senator John Cornyn, with his endorsement of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.
He also was able to get rid of Louisiana Senator Bill Cassidy, after endorsing Representative Julia Letlow.
Perhaps most infamously Kentucky Representative Thomas Massie lost after Trump backed Ed Gallrein.
But in Iowa last week, Republican voters chose Zach Lahn over the Trump-backed Randy Feenstra in the gubernatorial race.
Lahn was an insurgent candidate affiliated with Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr's Make America Healthy Again movement.
Just last week, Trump condemned Republican lawmakers who voted for a Democratic-led bill that would strip him of power to wage war on Iran.
'Yesterday, in a meaningless vote, the House voted, 4 bad Republicans and all of the Dumocrats, to limit my War Powers, right in the middle of my final negotiations to end the War with the Islamic Republic of Iran,' the President wrote on Truth Social on Thursday.
Four Republicans broke ranks as the House voted in favor of the war powers resolution, which would force Trump to end fighting with Iran unless authorized by Congress.
The rebels included frequent critics of the President, Massie and Brian Fitzpatrick, as well as Army veterans Warren Davidson and Tom Barrett.
The vote is largely symbolic as any resolution would still need to pass the Senate, and garner a two-thirds majorities in both chambers to overcome an almost certain Trump veto.
Trump accused the Democrats of committing an unpatriotic act, claiming the US holds the upper hand in negotiations with Iran, before turning his criticism on the dissenting Republicans.
'The four Republicans, that's a whole other story - They're GRANDSTANDERS! They should be ashamed of themselves,' the President concluded.
