President Donald Trump cut down rumors that he was considering replacing Susie Wiles as White House Chief of Staff Friday.
Politico reported in the Thursday edition of its Playbook newsletter that the president was “considering replacing” Wiles, potentially with White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Stephen Miller.
Speaking to reporters Friday, Trump said there was “zero chance” that he would consider the move. The president called the reports “a fake story” and praised Wiles as “smart” and “tough.”
“The Susie Wiles story was a fake story. She’s been incredible. We’ve had, maybe, the most successful two years—and it’s not even two years—in the history of the presidency,” he said. “She’s smart, she’s tough, she just went through a lot with the cancer surgery and the whole thing, and she recovered, fully recovered. She’s phenomenal.”

Politico’s Playbook claimed that Trump had been “soliciting allies’ views of Wiles and musing about replacements.” Trump told reporters Friday that the White House told Politico that the story “is totally wrong.”
“The only one that matters is me, because I’m the one that makes the decision,” Trump added. “So they made up fake news, they released it knowing it was a fake story. Susie is here, and she’s gonna be here for a long time.”
