President-elect Donald Trump isn’t letting President Joe Biden get away with this one.
The incoming president called out the octogenarian commander-in-chief for claiming he would’ve won reelection had he remained in the race.
“Well, he was way behind, he would’ve really, I assume, not had a chance,” Trump said at a Mar-a-Lago New Year’s Eve party Tuesday night alongside his wife Melania Trump.
“He was way behind (Harris) and we won in record numbers. I wish him well,” Trump added referencing his decisive victory over Harris on election night last year.
Trump’s spat at Biden comes after reports said the 82-year-old incumbent regretted dropping out of the race as he and his aides believe he could’ve won reelection — despite a growing list of Democrats and polls saying otherwise.
Pressure for Biden to end his reelection bid culminated on July 21 when he stood down from his position as presumptive Democrat presidential nominee and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris to replace him on the ticket.
Trump, 78, laughed at Biden’s claim referencing the tanking poll numbers for Biden ever since his disastrous performance at the June 27 debate.
Biden and his confidantes have been careful not to blame Harris or her campaign for Trump’s November victory, the Washington Post reported last week.
“Record numbers as you know from every swing state. We won the popular vote by millions and millions of people,” the incoming president said.
Trump wished Biden well saying his successor and soon-to-be predecessor had a chance to prove he could beat Trump during their infamous debate but “it didn’t work out too well for him.”
He noted that Biden’s gaffe-filled performance was what led to the downfall of his political rival.
As “Hail to the Chief” played at the Palm Beach resort, Trump predicted that the US is going to do “fantastically well” in 2025.
“A great year, I think we’re gonna do fantastically well as a country,” he said. “We’re gonna bring it back, it has to be brought back. People are not respecting our country very much and they gotta respect us a lot.”
Trump touted what he called “great progress” that he says happened over the last five weeks since his election.
“There’s a whole light over the whole world,” he remarked. “Not just our country, there are a lot of very happy people.”
Trump also confirmed that he will attend the late President Jimmy Carter’s funeral in Washington, DC, which is scheduled for Jan. 9.
“I do. I’ll be there. We were invited,” Trump said.
