President Donald Trump is set to sign an executive order on Oct. 19 promoting women’s health that will include the creation of a new division at the National Institutes of Health, the White House and First Lady Melania Trump said.
The order will establish a Women’s Health Division at the NIH and a White House task force on women’s health, a White House official said.
“This is a transformative moment for women in America. Beginning today, we will change the reality of women’s health,” Melania Trump said during an appearance on Fox News on Monday.
“Previous generations fought for women’s rights. Our generation will fight to discover the cures that will ensure a woman can live her life in health and to the fullest.”
Melania Trump said on X that the developments prioritize directing research funding toward cures for afflictions “that affect women in a disproportionate and unique way.”
She said that officials will be using artificial intelligence “to enhance our insight of female biology and speed up medical discoveries.”
This is a developing story that will be updated.
