CV NEWS FEED // President Joe Biden left President Donald Trump a letter Monday upon leaving the White House.
The letter wished Trump and his family “all the best in the next four years,” and asked citizens to look to “this house for steadiness.”
According to Fox News, Trump found the letter while signing executive orders “from the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office of the White House.”
The text reads:
“Dear President Trump,
As I take leave of this sacred office I wish you and your family all the best in the next four years. The American people – and people around the world – look to the house for steadiness in the inevitable storms of history, and my prayer is that in the coming years will be a time of prosperity, peace, and grace for our nation.”
“May God bless you and guide you as He has blessed and guided our beloved country since our founding.”
It is signed by “Joe Biden” and dated Jan. 20, 2025.
Trump described the letter as “inspirational,” telling reporters that he appreciated Biden’s note.
Biden’s letter to Trump carries on a tradition that began with President Ronald Reagan in 1989 when he left a hand-written letter for his successor, George H. W. Bush.
Trump also left a letter for Biden in 2021. Its contents were never revealed, but after being sworn in, Biden told reporters, “The president wrote a very generous letter.”
