CV NEWS FEED // In a Wednesday op-ed published in The Wall Street Journal, businessmen Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy called out Planned Parenthood by name while outlining their plan for the soon-to-be established Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) – of which President-elect Donald Trump appointed them co-commissioners.
Musk and Ramaswamy outlined that, as one part of its plan to make the government run more efficiently, DOGE will “take aim” at the millions of taxpayer dollars currently being sent annually to abortion giant Planned Parenthood.
“DOGE will help end federal overspending by taking aim at the $500 billion plus in annual federal expenditures that are unauthorized by Congress or being used in ways that Congress never intended,” the announced co-comissioners explained in their op-ed.
The businessmen specified that these expenditures include the “nearly $300 million to progressive groups like Planned Parenthood.”
They also mentioned the “$535 million a year to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and $1.5 billion for grants to international organizations.”
Musk and Ramaswamy emphasized that these spending reductions are part of their commission’s focus “on delivering cost savings for taxpayers.”
“With a decisive electoral mandate and a 6-3 conservative majority on the Supreme Court, DOGE has a historic opportunity for structural reductions in the federal government,” the businessmen wrote. “We are prepared for the onslaught from entrenched interests in Washington. We expect to prevail.”
As CatholicVote previously reported: “Despite its name, DOGE is set to be established as a presidential advisory commission – not a fully-fledged Executive Branch department.”
In a statement announcing the creation of DOGE last week, Trump indicated that he is “looking forward to Elon and Vivek making changes to the Federal Bureaucracy with an eye on efficiency and, at the same time, making life better for all Americans.”
He added that DOGE’s work “will conclude no later than July 4, 2026.”
“A smaller Government, with more efficiency and less bureaucracy, will be the perfect gift to America on the 250th Anniversary of The Declaration of Independence,” the president-elect emphasized.
