short of seemingly made up accusations from 15-20 years ago, why do you consider him a drag? How did he get elected Lt. Gov if all this was true and looming?

I agree...Rs say that about any candidate that polls bad...they say “he’s a horrible candidate”. Actually I agree with most of what he says and does-—the media smears, idiots believe it and this is what happens. If he were a D and the media left him alone we’d be stating that “we need a candidate like that”.

I don't know NC or Robinson, but I will guess he was a hack and schmoozer, who appealed to the permanent GOP leadership because someone told them they need more black people, and he seemed to fit the bilo.

Here in NY State, the GOP here are content to have permanent minority status as long as the apparatchiks get to stay in control of their little club. Thus most congressional reps are RINOs.

I think your thesis here is sound. The degree to which self-professing "conservatives" fail to appreciate just what a scam and a grift conventional electoral politics really is continues to astound. Those who still think that we can "vote our way forward," out of the current crisis, are living in a world of their own imagination, a world that no longer exists, if indeed it ever did.

It’s actually kind of bizarre that the left attacks our candidates for their “morality” but they admittedly have none and don’t care about morality. Only Republicans actually care about character so they constantly make up trash against our candidates to scare away voters.

Their approach is to attack our candidates regardless of the truth of the charge right before the election and it takes our side weeks or months to get the word out that it’s all a pack of lies....And the media is more then willing to perpetuate the lies. Look how long they continue to charge Trump with his “racist comments” concerning Charlottesville riots!! All proven to be completely false.

NC became a close race at the presidential level about a week after Biden was yanked off the ticket — which was well BEFORE Mark Robinson’s alleged baggage surfaced s let’s not scapegoat him entirely, especially when there’s no real evidence that the slanderous accusations are true.

NC already was damn well in play despite numerous emotionally fragile types trying to insist that NC isn’t even a swing state (which it certainly is), Trump has it in the bag (which he doesn’t), blah blah blah.

Now, with the capability of Robinson to drag down the entire ticket in NC — which of course is the goal of the media and other Democrats — the GOP needs to double down its effort to win there, and that is (hopefully) what Trump is smartly doing.

Desperately pretending that a problem doesn’t exist is hardly the best way to address any problem. If Trump and the RNC finally see the need to fight harder in North Carolina, that’s wonderful — and it’s what they damn well *better* be doing.

That’s true everywhere, and by no means limited to the South.

It MAY have less to do with race than with ideology — a jew Democrat politician can be counted on to be liberal in 99% of all cases, and the GOPe will take that in 100% of all cases when the other option is a conservative of ANY race.
