Tulsi Gabbard has released previously classified linked to Dr Anthony Faucis's handling of Covid before leaving her post as Director of National Intelligence (DNI).

Ms Gabbard claimed the documents prove Dr Fauci lied to Congress in 2024 and covered up "gain of function" research.

The documents showed Dr Fauci met with intelligence community officials on June 4, 2021, weeks after his May 11 denial that he funded research into the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV).

"Dr. Fauci was particularly interested in the WIV’s work on pangolins and asked for specifics on the type of experiments the Chinese were conducting on pangolin samples in the fall of 2019," a recap of the meeting noted.

Another document said the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) chief was "presumably not tracking" the research being done in the lab.

Documents also make clear the intelligence community was aware staff in WIV had become sick in late 2019, just before the deadly virus swept the globe.

Dr Fauci told the intelligence community there were "key gaps" in the knowledge of the three worker's medical records and blood work.

Not included in the files, however, is what Dr Fauci knew about the Wuhan lab's funding.

Also unclear is if Dr Fauci, who implemented the infamous six feet social distancing, raised any alarms about work done by nonprofit EcoHealth Alliance, who were disbarred by Congress for allegedly facilitating gain-of-function research in Wuhan.

Intelligence officials were revealed to have challenged Dr Fauci giving advice to officials over internal affairs saying he was a government-appointed "policymaker".

But another intelligence official said Dr Fauci, who became the face of Covid guidance in the US, should be treated as an important subject-matter expert rather than a policymaker.

Ms Gabbard, formerly the Democratic Representative for Hawaii, declassified the documents ahead of her resignation as DNI to care for her husband, who has a rare form of cancer.

"The COVID-19 pandemic caused tremendous hardship and pain for millions of our fellow Americans and for countless people around the world. After years of lies, censorship, and cover ups, the American people deserve transparency, truth, and accountability," Ms Gabbard said in a statement.

"The tactics used to hide the truth are straight from the deep state playbook: politicized self-serving leaders like Dr. Fauci covered up their own wrongdoing and abuses of power, manipulated intelligence, lied to Congress, and undermined a duly elected President by restricting his access to vital facts needed to keep the country safe. It’s time the American people learn the real story."

Bill Pulte, a businessman, previously served in Donald Trump's administration as director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) before his appointment as acting DNI to replace Ms Gabbard, a former Democratic Presidential candidate.

But his appointment has faced bipartisan blowback over his lack of intelligence experience and allegations he used his authority to target political opponents of the White House.

Senator Majority Leader John Thune, a Republican from South Dakota, said: "We don't need a weaponized DNI, we need professionals there."

The President's nominee to permanently lead the department - Jay Clayton, an attorney and former SEC chairman - was set to have a Congressional confirmation on Wednesday.

His confirmation was delayed, however, after Mr Trump told him not to show up for the confirmation in a row over Congress's refusal to pass the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) without including the Save America Act, a bill which would require "documentary proof of United States citizenship" and disallow mail in ballots except for a small number of circumstances.

Mr Trump took to Truth Social to declare the meeting would be cancelled.

"Therefore, to add a slight bit of intrigue but, for the good of the nation, and the People of our country, I will not approve FISA without THE SAVE AMERICA ACT going along with it. Not complicated, actually, the Republicans fell into a trap," the President said.
